About

For decades magazines have told us what is in, what is sexy and who to buy. Few if any have provided direction for fashion in the REAL WORLD. After many years of flipping through these magazines in frustration, a group of women from the competitive corporate worlds of Finance, Fashion and Media decided enough was enough. Believing in their own style sensibilities, they launched Daily Gloss.

biz girl 300x230 AboutHaving worked in the male dominated finance industry since 1990, BizGirl’s ponderings are drawn from her experiences in Hong Kong, Japan and Australia where over the years she has worked as an executive in Corporate Finance, Institutional Broking and Asset Management.  It seems that even her years working two stints on high testosterone institutional investor dealing desks were not quite enough to prepare her for life as a mother of two sons.   Apart from her passions for family, food and fashion, BizGirl is an avid supporter of diversity and women in the workplace.

Jessica 223x300 AboutJessica Barnes likes to make lists — about places she wants to go, food she wants to eat, sights she would like to see…and the list goes on. She then delights in the feeling of ticking something off the list, knowing she has a new experience and memory to add to her inventory. The only thing she enjoys more than undertaking these new experiences is writing about them afterwards and sharing them with others. Jessica recently completed her Diploma of Graphic Design at Enmore Design Centre and loves to create pretty things and surround herself with beautiful designs, however upon finishing an internship at a magazine last year she knew that sitting at her desk writing is where she feels most comfortable, as long as the desk is stylishly decorated of course.

Alice Mcconnel 220x300 AboutAlice McConnell recently completed a Bachelor of Fashion and Textile Design majoring in Fashion Media at UTS in Sydney. Her graduate work saw her combine her love of styling, writing, photography and graphic design into a small quarterly fashion publication. Throughout her degree Alice has worked in fashion retail and marketing, plus held a long term internship at an Australian fashion magazine. Her work as a freelance fashion assistant has allowed her to work alongside some of Australia’s most talented stylists and photographers. Forever carrying a notebook and a polaroid camera, Alice is happy observing the world around her, finding beauty and inspiration in all of life’s imperfect moments.

Natalie Cheeseman 184x300 AboutThough not born in Melbourne, Natalie Cheeseman has very much become accustomed to its niceties – clothing, textiles, accessories, homewares and especially food. Natalie is in her final year of a Bachelor of Arts at Deakin University, majoring in journalism and public relations. With a taste for the highlife she spends her time opportunistically scouring through some of the fantastic boutiques that are scattered around Melbourne’s streets and laneways to find pieces to fall in love with. Abreast of all things in trend but remaining true to her own sense of style she has an excellent palate for what is hot and what is not. In between these hunter gather missions she can be found visiting the many cafés and restaurants that make Melbourne the food capital of Australia. Natalie’s unique perspective and simple yet elegant style, are evident in the way approaches her writing.
