The Carrie Diaries: Did life really exist before Sex?

It single-handedly changed our attitudes towards men, our girlfriends and most importantly our wardrobes!

Thanks to ‘Sex and the City’ it’s now perfectly acceptable (if not encouraged) for girls to date like guys, to spill every juicy detail of our steamy bedroom antics to our besties, and of course, to splash out hundreds of dollars on a pair of Manolo Blahnik strappy sandals.

Which is why, when the global phenomenon – that notched up an amazing seven Emmys and eight Golden Globes during it’s six years on air – came to a B-I-G end in 2004, millions of us were left crying into our Cosmos.

But, have TV execs finally found something to fill the gapping holes in hearts left by the devastating departure of Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda from our lives?

After taking our favourite ladies, and their beloved couture, to Hollywood with two box office smashing movies – it’s time to return to the VERY beginning.

And no, I’m not talking about watching the box set from scratch (again!)

Our beloved curly-haired columnist Carrie Bradshaw is going back to her teenage years in the hot new TV series ‘The Carrie Diaries.’

“1984. It’s always the same dream. Manhattan is mine,” says a young Miss Carrie Bradshaw, played by actress AnnaSophia Robb, in the newly released trailer.

The show, based on the best-selling book by SATC author Candace Bushnell, sees the wannabe wordsmith embrace 80s fashion (including the dreaded scrunchie!) as she battles her way through high school (minus her famous female side-kicks) desperate to make her mark on the Big Apple.

So can the prequel possibly live up to it’s iconic predecessor? And can a little-known actress from Denver successfully step the pricey shoes of super style icon Sarah Jessica Parker?

“I can’t help but wonder…”
