Ginger & Smart Spring Summer 2011/12 – Anon.

Like a poem written by a man you’ll never know Ginger & Smart’s Spring Summer 2011/12 collection is more than a story, it’s a collection of ideas up to your interpretation. Inspired by the nature of poetry, the beauty of words and their hidden and interpretative meaning these pieces let you decide – what do you want to say to the world about who you are, your sense of style and how you feel?

Despite featuring so many varied, interrelated and contrasting themes this collection has an uncanny sense of harmony, bringing together formal and informal; hard and soft; feminine and masculine; rhythmic and arrhythmic. The collection was designed to speak, as the pieces move and float while walking.

L-R Last Rays Sleeveless Dress, The Poet Jumpsuit

Highlights of Anon include bold digital printed silks – the material itself light and free-flowing partnered with strong, dense colours and imagery. The Last Rays Sleeveless dress is effortless, featuring colours from a spectrum of red to purple – this dress is the perfect ode to Spring. The Poet Jumpsuit is my personal pick from the collection, the silk is loose above the waist allowing for movement while strong tailoring from the waist down demonstrates ferocity – and of course the bold print is sure to make any woman stand out in a crowd.

L-R She Walks in Beauty Shorts, Whisper Words Sleeveless Dress

Coming out of Winter we are all in need of a colour injection in our wardrobe to lighten our mood and bring us out of hibernation. This collection features an array of hues to suit any skin tone, preference or mood. Coral pink promises to perform in the upcoming Spring Summer season. Polished cotton She Walks in Beauty shorts are playful and feminine and will take you from day to night as the weather warms. The Whisper Words Sleeveless dress is another key player in the collection and one to keep in mind for upcoming events such as the Spring Carnival.

L-R Typewriter Collared Shirt, Whisper Words Blouse and Pant

Show off your boyish charm while still remaining feminine and chic in pieces such as the Typewriter Collared shirt – here the beauty is in the detail. The perfect example of contrasting themes in the collection, this play on masculinity is done with a precise combination of edge and grace – Whisper Words Blouse and Pant are a perfect example of this.
