Napoleon Perdis is a busy man! After catching up with him in the morning on day one of RAFW back stage at Alex Perry show we the make up maestro working his magic later that afternoon at Karla Spetic. The collection combined clean lines with bold colours in shades of lime green, lilac and tangerine. The inclusion of shift dresses and oversized prints gave the collection a retro feel with the sharp tailoring keeping it modern. This confident yet pared back look was complemented by Napoleon’s choice of flawless skin highlighted by bright orange lips.
Could you please tell me about the look for the Karla Spetic show?
It’s very modern. There’s a certain minimalism to it. The lipstick is all the big emphasis. There’s a kind of slickness to the lipstick coming back. You know? It’s the way you can wear it from day to night.
So is this the kind of look that could be taken from the runway into everyday?
I think so. It’s natural, beautiful skin that’s primed and then we have this fabulous lip and you’re ready to go!
Quite a contrast from Alex Perry this morning!
Very, very different. I mean Alex was like a total art direction.
How do you liaise with the designer to decide the direction of the look for each show?
Well they just came to the studio and we just saw the collection and I actually said yes this is all Portugese prints blown up but in actual fact it’s very mid century you know? Very Palm Springs. Orange is actually the official colour of Palm Springs so I think the orange lip goes with this whole idea its just one of those things you can go from day to dinner!
Fashion Week can be quite tiring. Have you got any make up suggestions to stay looking fresh?
Well use my make up, number one! Use eye drops, number two and LOTS of mascara because it makes the eye pop.
